Mount Amiata is where Tuscany people goes in Winter to sky and in summer to refresh from the heat. We will drive from Pienza and close by locations through the scenic drive of the magnificent Val D'Orcia stopping at the beautiful little village of Bagno Vignoni. Then we will drive for about an hour to reach the top of Monte Amiata where we will stop and walk to the summit where we will enjoy one of the most spectaculars views in Tuscany.
After our eyes will be full from the view we will start our drive to Abbadia San Salvatore which abbey is one of the oldest monasteries in Tuscany founded around the year 743 by the lombard King. We'll visit the heart of the village a picturesque medieval borgo.
After Abbadia San Salvatore we will proceed for a short 10 minutes drive to the rival town of Piancastagnaio, with its massive Rocca Aldobrandesca ("Aldobrandeschi Castle"). Here we will also take a walk to a ancient chestnut park.
